Proposal

Proposal

I had to think carefully on how I was going to do this project. I've been known to set high expectations for myself and never  accomplish them.  I've been a perfectionist so much that I've gotten so slow with my work.  And because of that, not only has my art suffered but so has my  development in  becoming a better artist.  I've been too focused on the details. My first project was to finish this project that I've been working on since January but since  the California Art institute's deadline for portfolios is coming up soon, I've decided to take on the task of making a portfolio as well as doing some of the animation "To paint the town red" not to finish, but to put in for a demo reel.

However, there will be a different approach on this project that instead of focusing  on the quality of the drawings for it, I'll be focusing on the quantity aspect. This is so that I won't focus so much on the detail and refrain from  trying to perfect a drawing as well as drawing faster with my work and having more fun.  What I'll do first is post a rough draft portfolio to start off with. As I go through the weeks of drawing and working, I'll put more drawings in the portfolio and replace old ones with new ones to polish it up. My plan is to draw at least 100 per week. This will be anything from 30 second sketches to doodles to fully colored images. In order words, anything goes. I will also be animating up to 30 seconds of my animation project "Paint the town red" for the term. In brief description the animated short is dark comedy about a witch who meets a gangster at a bar and get caught up in a brawl among the other gangster associates.
Most of the tools I'll be using is a just a mechanical pencil  and pen with  my sketchbook. For color medium, it'll differ from traditional media such as color pastels, markers, and color pencils to digital such as Adobe Photoshop, and Paint tool Sai. This will open more opportunities in trying different styles as well. For animation, Adobe Flash will be used.

For the "expert of the relevant field" I was hoping to ask Jennifer Harlow. She used to be a student at SOU and went to Calarts and on her final year, she was hired by Dreamworks.  She's always been a hard worker and was persistent in her dream and took her experience and studies into animation seriously and has been an inspiration to me.
(I hope this alright)
If she can't accept, then I'll keep up to date on who I will  find for the expert of the field.
